Easter Hats and Arden B. dresses, Its Officialy Spring (well not so much today)!

Easter is just around the corner, about 2 weeks away to be exact. Instead of waiting until the week of Easter to get you right, I decided to go ahead and give you some outfit ideas early. My inspirations for this post are Easter Hats. As a small child I remember going to Church on Easter Sunday and watching the “Church” Runway – the elaborate hats, the structured suits, the shiny shoes – it was really a show.

The history of Easter Hats initially came out of the Apostle Paul declared that women must cover their heads during worship (1 Corinthians 11:15)

In the early 20th century many African American women worked as domestic servants or in other subservient roles. Sunday church services provided the only real chance to break away from their drab, dreary workday uniforms.  When attending church, they favored bright colors and textured fabric — the bolder the better, really — and topped their outfits off with a flamboyant hat, or “crown.”

Hats also served as status symbols. “Once you got up on your feet and started working, you bought some hats,” said boutique owner Audrey Easter, in Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry’s book, Crowns. Many women match their hats with their pocketbooks and gloves.

Of course times have changed, and hats aren’t the focal point for many women today. However, let’s change that today!! Whether you are going to Church, brunch or just spending time with loved ones on Easter Sunday, I have created three outfits that may quell your interest in rocking an Easter Hat. (All dresses are from Arden B. – sooo pretty). By the way, dont forget to bring your shawl if you will be attending a more traditional or conservative Church (you don't want to offend some, with too much skin)
