A week in fashion (3/20-3/27)

I do this on a rare occasion, but I'm thinking maybe I should do it more often - last week celebrities were out attending various events and some really "showed out" as far as Fashion is concerned. Good and Bad! Who missed the mark? Who owned their look? I'll give you my opinions - you give me yours!

Kelis looked ABSOLUTELY gorgeous in her DVF wrap dress at the W Hotel in South Beach Miami Beach Florida on March 25, 2010.(sorry to disapoint, I already researched heavily, this dress is from the Holiday 08/09 Wonder Woman Collection, so if you are in search, your best bet is Ebay).

Serena kicking it in Miami.

Lala Vazques, Kelly Rowland and Serena Williams at Kelly’s first non-profit charity, ‘I Heart My Girlfriends’ in Miami, Florida on March 28. By the way, KUDOS to Serena's new stylist (whomever that may be) this has really been a transformation.

Mary J. Blige at Tom Joyner’s Jazz In The Gardens 2010 on March 20, 2010 in Miami Gardens, Florida. MARY IS KNOCKING THESE YOUNG GIRLS OUT THE BOX!!!! GO MJB! GO MJB!!

First Lady Michelle Obama seen leaving “Memphis” the musical on Broadway in New York City. I love how she throws things "off" with her color choice in shoes, loving the bangles. GO 1st Lady!!

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyy! (I just really like this picture)

Now on to the Fashion Roadkill!

Serioulsy Jessica White - so she decided to wear lingerie to the premier of "Why did I get married 2". How is this cute in any way??

Leona Lewis at Perez Hilton’s ‘Carn-Evil’ Theatrical Freak in LA on March 27. Sorry you are not Lady GaGa and this DOES NOT work for you!

Eve doesnt look bad, but those tattoos WEAR ME OUT! Enough is really enough!

Randy Jackson and Kimberly Locke at the Winter Music Conference at W South Beach on March 27. They both just look really ridiculous here, and I'm trying to figure out how she went from this ^ to..... -

Clearly she had help here.

"Out here in these streets"

So I was thinking last night on what I should blog about today (because let me tell you, sometimes it does get hard) and I realized that the  majority of my blogs are dedicated to supporting people, designers, products, and companies of people who I don't know. While cruising Facebook, I noticed that ALOT of people that I know are becoming budding entrepreneurs right on Facebook - and it hit me! Why not support the people I know, know of, or by association?? Unfortunately we are still in a recession, and AND everyone is trying to make it "out here in these streets" (shout-out! she know's who she is), which will also be the title of this weekly feature. Why not help each other? Yeah why not? Well I decided to do just that! Each week I will feature a FB friend (fashion and beauty related) and their business. I am also calling out for your help, if you know anyone who would like to be featured hit me up on Facebook or shoot me an email fashionrevolutionaires@gmail.com. With that said, Let's get it!!

Have you been on the hunt for unique and bold accessories to add to your collection? Look no further - Another Princess Designs, she offers a range of statement pieces from rings, to bold bangles and funky necklaces. Check her out on FB where you can browse at pics and place orders. ( I know I hate the long links, but unfortunately - Onsugar hasnt added hyperlinks yet, or I just jsut dont know how to find it)

"It's the shoes, (the shoes?) , it's gotta be the shoes"

I discovered this shoe company about a year and a half ago ( I wasn't too late, they launched in 2007), and have been hooked ever since - Pour La Victoire The shoes are impeccably made and the designs are clean and sharp. I did a blog last year around this time on this very same shoe company. Well, THEY'RE BACK!!! The Spring 2010 collection has hit the stores and the internet, and they have yet to disappoint. This month they have also installed a bridal line, which by the way is BEAUTIFUL. I mean wear these to a wedding? You have to be kidding me, you can wear these bad boys anytime.

Enough with all the talk already, let me show you what I mean....

Spring 2010 Collection (I have chosen some of my favorites, but check out the website for the full collections)

Easter Hats and Arden B. dresses, Its Officialy Spring (well not so much today)!

Easter is just around the corner, about 2 weeks away to be exact. Instead of waiting until the week of Easter to get you right, I decided to go ahead and give you some outfit ideas early. My inspirations for this post are Easter Hats. As a small child I remember going to Church on Easter Sunday and watching the “Church” Runway – the elaborate hats, the structured suits, the shiny shoes – it was really a show.

The history of Easter Hats initially came out of the Apostle Paul declared that women must cover their heads during worship (1 Corinthians 11:15)

In the early 20th century many African American women worked as domestic servants or in other subservient roles. Sunday church services provided the only real chance to break away from their drab, dreary workday uniforms.  When attending church, they favored bright colors and textured fabric — the bolder the better, really — and topped their outfits off with a flamboyant hat, or “crown.”

Hats also served as status symbols. “Once you got up on your feet and started working, you bought some hats,” said boutique owner Audrey Easter, in Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry’s book, Crowns. Many women match their hats with their pocketbooks and gloves.

Of course times have changed, and hats aren’t the focal point for many women today. However, let’s change that today!! Whether you are going to Church, brunch or just spending time with loved ones on Easter Sunday, I have created three outfits that may quell your interest in rocking an Easter Hat. (All dresses are from Arden B. – sooo pretty). By the way, dont forget to bring your shawl if you will be attending a more traditional or conservative Church (you don't want to offend some, with too much skin)

There's always a great reason to wear GREEN!

Are you one of those people who make a point to wear green on St. Patrick's Day, and for those violators who chose not to - you constantly harass them?? Well your in luck, this posts for you!

Fashion Revolutionaire history moment: Many people celebrate this day by the wearing of green, and legend has it that there are three main reasons as to why GREEN is the color of choice. The first reason is because of the green shamrock leaf. According to legend, the shamrock was a sacred plant to the Druids of Ireland because its leaves formed a triad, and three was a mystical number in the Celtic religion. It was used by Saint Patrick to illustrate the doctrine of the Holy Trinity as he introduced Christianity to Ireland. In the 19th century, it was a symbol of rebellion and anyone wearing it risked death by hanging. This period spawned the phrase "the wearin' o' the green." Occasionally, a fourth leaflet will appear, making a "four-leaf clover," said to bring good luck to the person who discovers it. The second reason green is an Irish color is because Ireland is called the "Emerald Isle" with lots of green pastures. The third reason is because the people of Ireland would burn green leaves to spread over their land to make their soil richer.

Now with that said, let the fashion begin! In honor of St. Patrick's Day, and the recession (always have to keep that in mind these days), I chose to show three outfits based on one GREEN blouse. Need outfit ideas for later this evening, well take a look - you may be inspired!

The green blouse can be found at Talbots - Drape-front silk shell $80 www.talbots.com -

Here's a nice conservative look - now the key to this look is how you rock your green shirt. One of 2 ways, wear this inside of the white dress shirt and tuck in both shirts inside of the skirt for a nice clean conservative look (make sure to leave a couple of the buttons open to reveal your splash of color. The other is totally how I would rock it. I would wear the green blouse on the outside of the white shirt (tails hanging out) and cinch it with a nice black wide belt. Trust me it will be super hot!

SJP and Halston, oooohhs and ahhhs are in order here!

One of the most influential fashion trendsetters of our time, is back in fashion! I mean she is really back! Yesterday Sarah Jessica Parker's Halston Heritage Collection launched on Net-a-porter.com. The line was inspired by Halston's archives as well as the Studio 54 crowd of the late 70's and 80's. Draped dresses, silk jumpsuits, and sequined vests are just a few items from the collection. The line also includes slouchy tote bags and other bags, can be found on net-a-porter.com, but for all you SATC fans, many of the clothing will be featured in "Sex And The City 2" this coming May.
